PBE Projects - Quality is not an accident, it is intentional.
PBE Projects has partnered up with specialists with the intention to address Refractory reliability from an operational perspective. We have noticed that a high percentage of our clients have Refractory reliability issues due to fluctuating or unreliable operations, typically influencing or directly related to the burner system. Stable burners = stable refractories.
Our Services
Project Management
To compliment a turnkey quality service, one may as well start by handing the project over to a competent team of specialists.
Thermography
From level 1 to 3 Thermographers available with detailed reporting (quantitative & qualitative)
Camera Inspection & Surveillance
100% Camera surveillance. Detail (well lit) H.D. inspection imagery:
Camera setup is executed as required for a variety of scenarios i.e: tough to reach areas that may require expensive scaffolding, limited small and awkward to access locations, or simply for a quick look.
Making sure nothing is missed where it’s potentially challenging to keep an eye on critical work.
Quality Control
Preparation, management and control of documents. Team support and involvement in support functions ie: material control, supervisor support, testing preparations etc… We believe in an 80/20 field to office ratio. Our QCs has a high site visibility factor.
Specialist Supervision
Full time presence on the job @ installation & mixing area(s). Ensuring the best possible installation with daily logs and photos.
Specialists assist clients to manage teams, represent the client and drive coordination as per schedule requirements.
Inspection (API936/API982)
Detail onsite analysis and data review.
Scope verification and identification.
Repair recommendations & report writing.
Pre-qualification of staff, material and equipment with procedural oversight.
Root Cause Analysis investigations & Fault finding.
Maintenance strategy review and recommendation, implementation and management.
*Materials and manufacturers facility Inspection to verify specification adherence & quality.
- Materials inspection:
Are bags weighted correctly, is manufacturing managed to avoid contamination. Are bricks and shapes within tolerances or are they riddled with low melting impurity spots and micro cracks.
ISO 9001 (QMS)
QMS: Implementation, updating or creation of all Inhouse specifications and QA/QC documents.
Method statement, QCP/ITP, SOP, checklists, Specifications …
Engineering & Consulting
Technical and design review support with questions related to physical and chemical aspects answered from qualified engineers.
Insurance and peace of mind with the correct consultant/engineer on the correct job.
Experienced senior input.
Training Pre-qualification and best practices
“Good refractory practice” & installation methods with theory & practical sessions available.
Practical sessions doubles as pre-qualification of teams/individuals. Verifying them as competent by an engineers or an API 936 Certified inspector in (a) specific discipline(s). It could be issued to clients as verified proof of a specific competence/qualification.
Pre-qualification of teams, equipment and material.
English (with translators) for supervisors/foremen …

Recycling
Being associated with registered, competent large scale refractory recyclers we ensure to do our bit to save resources and keep costs low where possible. The Cradle to Grave principle applies.
Onsite and/or Lab testing
Onsite: Debris on the shell, slag configuration, and questionable material quality may be verified on site with calibrated hi tech handheld equipment.
Offsite: Physical and chemical + loos on ignition test at our accredited and independent labs can help identify detail or address challenges.
QC Coaching.
There are not enough competent, well experienced QC’s. Yet the market is expanding identifying a sure need for these individuals. As part of giving back to the industry we help ensure competent refractory quality staff.
The course handles everything from the people we work with to the materials characteristics and how to draw up a good refractory QCP, ITP, Method statement, procedures as well as how to manage oneself to deliver an efficient service.
